Session Group Fitness
Register in person at the Campus Recreation offices at the Student Recreation Facility at 737 S. Halsted or the Sport & Fitness Center at 828 S. Wolcott. Phone registrations are not accepted.
Cash, check, or charge are accepted. Registration deadline for classes is normally three business days prior to class. Classes not meeting the minimum requirement of participants will be cancelled at that time. Refunds will be issued ONLY for classes cancelled due to low registration or a doctor documented illness or condition. Late registration may be accepted for classes that meet the minimum participant requirement, but will not be prorated.
*All non-members must show picture ID with their IP Registration card.
Participation and Eligibility
Instructional Programs are voluntary and open primarily to the UIC community, including students, faculty, staff, and members of the recreational facilities.
If you have a disability and need accommodations in order to participate in a program, please call (312) 413-5154 at least one week prior to the event
Drop-in classes are free and on a first-come-first-serve basis. The appropriate Group Fitness pass is needed for session class participation. The following is also required:
- Students - Currently registered UIC Students who have paid the appropriate student and general fees will have access to Campus Recreation facilities by presenting a valid I-card.
- Faculty/Staff - Faculty/Staff must purchase a facility membership or pay the appropriate daily fee to enter Campus Recreation facilities, and attend classes.
- Alumni - need to purchase a membership or pay the Session Class fee to access Campus Recreation facilities. Proof of UIAA membership is also needed.
- Affiliates - can only access the Sport & Fitness Center with an appropriate membership.
- Community - members must purchase an annual membership to access Campus Recreation facilities
Refund Policy
No refunds will be given for Group Fitness classes except for a physician-verified illness or injury.

Class Descriptions
Pilates
Pilates Mat: This class follows the teachings of Joseph Pilates. Develop your core strength, flexibility and muscular endurance while focusing on proper breathing.
Pilates Reformer: Using a specialized Reformer machine, participants will develop muscular control, grace, strength and flexibility.
Reformer/Mat Combo: Using specialized reformer machine, participants will develop muscular control, grace, strength and flexibility.
Small Group Pilates Reformer: Reformer Class, with the benefits of personal training! This affordable alternative to private reformer lessons puts only 4-5 participants per instructor, promoting more individualized attention.
Aqua Pilates: Develop your core strength and flexibility with the zero-impact benefits of water. This class is an excellent exercise program for participants with joint problems, those getting back into fitness, or people who just love the water!.
Yoga
Hatha Yoga: This method of Yoga instruction stresses health and well-being through breathing exercises and deep concentration while holding traditional Yoga poses.
Vinyasa Yoga: Focuses on the traditional 8 limbs of yoga through the coordination of breathing and movements. It is recommended that you have some previous yoga experience before participating in this class.
Mixed Yoga: This combines Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, and Ashtanga Yoga all into one class!
Other
Hardcore Core: Build strength in the core with a combination of pilates, yoga and conventional core strengthening techniques. This class focuses on strengthening the core to allow for better posture, form, and tone. Create a strong body starting with the core! Beginner to advanced participants are welcome.
Interval Training: Burn the ultimate amount of calories and build strength at the same time in this non-stop high intensity cross training class. Experience a mix of athletic drills, plyometrics work, strength, cardiovascular and flexibility training for an intense workout.
Resistance Stretching: In Resistance Stretching class we cover the beginning series of 16 self-stretches and introduce assisted stretching. In learning self-stretches we resist and move constantly through each pose to strengthen and stretch the whole body.
Zumba: The Zumba® program fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves
to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away. Our
goal is simple: We want you to want to work out, to love working out, to
get hooked. Zumba® Fanatics achieve long-term benefits while experiencing
an absolute blast in one exciting hour of calorie-burning,
body-energizing, awe-inspiring movements meant to engage and captivate for
